Leave it up to me, what can I say....gotta touch on the hot topic of the day! Our new President, Obama.
Before I begin, remember, I am human, I may not be right, but I have my opinion as do we all. Who really knows for sure.... we do the best we can, with what we have before us, and hope by the grace of God that we were guided in the right direction. As with everything else in life, when you place your future in the hands of another, you have to trust that you made the best decision (although this decision wasn't of one, but of many....my decision may or may not have affected the outcome), if not, what can you do....pick up the pieces and move forward. This is life....
Over the last 8 yrs I've found myself ashamed of our country, and the choices the few at the top of the bar have made. While not perfect either, the burden ultimately lies on them, they hold the highest office, and we expect them to make decisions based on the majority and knowledge. After all, they are here to represent US arent they.
I watched during the Clinton administration several things come to pass. I remember HIPPA coming into law, and FMLA becoming a reality. I also watched a thriving economy . our stocks doubled and flipped. I saw prosperity. And, it doesn't matter how these things came about, the fact is that during this administation they came about....the system worked. As a Benefits Coordinator at the time, I can thoroughly appreciate the impact made.
During the Bush administration I watched as our country invaded another, based on bad information. I watched as we continued with the injustice rather than righting our wrong. And, I thoroughly believe that we are suffering the consequences of those actions. A failing economy, with prices of fuel, food and everything else out of control. Major companies failing, stocks plummeting, a leader out of touch with the people, and a nation hated more than ever by others....the system did not work. As a people, hopefully we have grown spiritualy, because the growth lacks elsewhere. I find myself scratching my head looking for the postives.
Now, as a new administration emerges I do have HOPE. Hope that we can repair some of the damage done to others, as well as our own. Hope that we can once again move forward as a country, and hope that we can again be a proud nation. Dear Lord, I pray that you will guide us to what is right, forgive us of our wrongs and help us to be the nation you would have us to be...
Tell me, what impact, imprint or legacy was left in your mind?
